Etape de Tour 2008

APE: Allant Pyrénées Etape

Steve has finished among the top 100 riders in the past two Etape du Tours (that's the top 1% of all those who take part). This year, he has decided to bring the Etape to the Pyrenees again, with our own APE: Allant Pyrenees Etape. This trip is for all those who want the challenge of riding a full stage from the Tour de France, with some top training and coaching first and without the other 9999 riders on the road at the same time!!

Our APE extravaganza follows the Pau-Lourdes stage of the 2011 Tour: 156km taking on two of the famous Pyrenean cols: the Aubisque and Soulor. It is the perfect trip for those wanting a real challenge, riding amongst some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, tracing the very same route as the pros. This trip is suitable for all levels of riders who have a good level of general fitness (no previous Col experience necessary).

Pau to Lourdes Etape Altigraph

APE package:

Day one: You and your bike will be collected from either Tarbes-Lourdes, Pau or Toulouse airport and transferred to Allant Holidays’ base in Galan, a small village in the foothills of the Pyrenees. Steve Hall, a British Cycling-qualified coach will be there to meet you, brief you on your stay and, of course, help put your bike together. There should be time for a short local cycle on this first day. Before dinner, Steve will explain some climbing and descending techniques.

Day two, Steve will explain how to get the most out of your body and your bike when tackling steep gradients and also how to deal with fast, tight descents. You will be taken to ride the first col of your visit - perhaps the Col d'Aspin, Col de Peyresourde or Hourquette d'Ancizan. Steve will give a brief session on bike maintenance and repair.

Day three, Stage 13 of the 2011 Tour de France. Pau to Lourdes. You will be transferred by car to Pau this morning, ready to ride the 156km course. Steve will be riding with you all the way and talk you through how to pace yourself and also ensure you have the correct nutrition and hydration to see you through the ride. At the end of the etape, you will be collected from Lourdes.

Day four: return to the airport of your choice (or continue your stay with us).

All evening meals, lunches, breakfasts, three nights' accommodation, coaching, Etape drop-off and collection,  plus return transfers to the airport are included for 375€ per person (based on two people sharing a room).

Contact us now or use our booking form to secure your place on the APE (available for any three nights, subject to availability, from May to October 2011).
